For the first time EVER, the girls get to wear shorts in late October. That's one of the good things about Texas I guess;-). This is Scarlet's little outfit for the day.

This year, the girls have to wear a uniform and for a mama-sewer and jojo-knitter (their grandmother), it's been kind of boring... I really miss seeing colours on them. Oh, well, we won't be here forever. In the meantime, they wear as much color as possible on weekends;-)

One of my favorite things to sew are skirts and apart from the fact that they are easy and fast to make, what I love the most about it is that everytime I sew one, I realize how much the girls have grown since the last skirt;-) Here are the last few I made...
Little nightgown made with 1950s curtains. These were in my mom's room when she was a little girl. It was very nice to see the look on her face when she saw I had turned them into a a little something for Lily...;-) There is so much waste everywhere that it is always very satisfying to being able to reuse something... I never tire of that! Have a lovely weekend!
Not sure whether it will be a boy or a girl, I made 2 little pillows for my brother's baby: a blue/gree and a brown/pink... It's very simple but the fabrics are so pretty that I am happy with it. I used a gray linen for the backing and the girls stuffed them... with fluff and lots of love!
Oh, it feels so nice to finally make something, even something small and simple! My mom has a new sewing machine and someone had to get it started, you see;-) I used only fabric remnants found in the attic here and the straps were made using my grandmother's belts (she used to wear a lot of shirt dresses). These little bags are for friends and cousins of the girls. They are the right size for their little treasures.
I have noticed that I have not spent enough time updating this little blog lately, the reason being that I have been spending too much time on Facebook! So sorry little blog but Facebook is so much fun;-) Anyways, here is a little blouse I made for Manon with some linen I bought last summer. It's from a Japanese book and I can't wait for her to try it later today, especially now that the weather is nice and warm!
I made this little outfit yesterday for Manon. I am always worried about sewing with "tulle" mostly because it is not easy to mark on and cut straight... (I found out that laying the fabric on a dark piece of cloth works very well... why did I not think about that sooner?) Happy to report that our little customer was very pleased with her new skirt and wore it to the Big Apple Circus today... I'd like to think that's the reason why she got a high-5 from Bello the clown;-) The top will have to wait a few more months because it is still not that warm out there...
