Fantastic Wayne Thiebaud workshop at the National Gallery of Art this past Sunday. The girls were quite interested in the above painting;-) and made these cakes with fake icing after touring the galleries. If you would like to try this at home, here is what you need.
- A round box from crafts store
- Sargent Creative Craft Paint colors in red, yellow, white, brown, violet and green.
- Elemer's Tile Grout
- Fake fruit
- Decorating squeeze bottles from Crate & Barrel
(1 part Sargent Art Creative Craft Paint to 5 parts Elmer's Interior Tile Grout).
They look so real we are going to play a trick or Mr. B when he returns home in a few days;-)
Not sure whether it will be a boy or a girl, I made 2 little pillows for my brother's baby: a blue/gree and a brown/pink... It's very simple but the fabrics are so pretty that I am happy with it. I used a gray linen for the backing and the girls stuffed them... with fluff and lots of love!
Oh, it feels so nice to finally make something, even something small and simple! My mom has a new sewing machine and someone had to get it started, you see;-) I used only fabric remnants found in the attic here and the straps were made using my grandmother's belts (she used to wear a lot of shirt dresses). These little bags are for friends and cousins of the girls. They are the right size for their little treasures.
Another excellent year for strawberries! We brought back about 8 kilos and already made some jam and smoothies;-) They are so ripe we had to freeze some and then, we saved some more for a Charlotte aux Fraises... I would kill for these in the middle of winter!
For her friend's birthday, Lily wanted to wrap her gifts in a special way. She has been dreaming of "baluchons" lately and so that was the perfet plan! I think we will wrap more and more gifts with fabric. It can be reused and it is fast and fun! For more ideas, click here.
Just wanted to say hi, all is well and sorry for this long interlude. I have not forgotten you and I will be back soon... I miss the sewing, the crafting and most of all the warm feeling of sharing ideas with you! xoxo
