The Girl

Of course, we needed a girlfriend for Mr. Lapin and here she is. Same sweater, different colors for the stitching, vintage trim from my great-grandmother and buttons from this wonderful place. Don't you think that little button with the duck is adorable? I need many more;-) The girls are finally at school after 2 snow & ice days... really, DC is a joke, the roads were definitely safe enough to drive the kids but I don't mind a few days with them at home making pancakes and valentine's cards (we are super early this year thanks to the snow).  

 

Jour de Neige

We dressed up warmly and went out, it was wonderful. The park was empty and we had all that fresh snow to make snow angels, go down the hills and just run screaming "Freeeeeedooooom"!

Big Wool Scarf

Oh, hard to believe, I actually finished something on the knitting side of things! I used Rowan's big wool in black and my mom crocheted the flowers... It's super warm and does not even itch;-)

 

Le Lapin

I am not sure what it is... a bit of winter blues with this cold-cold weather not ending. I am dreaming of the garden and little flowers... but enough dwelling! I made this bunny yesterday. Materials include a recycled cashmere sweater which means this little man is super soft and great to sleep with. The idea came from the latest MCI. Manon loves him and she made a bed/house for him. That's where he spends the day while she is at school. We figured it would not be safe to let him wander all day long because we have lost 2 bunnies already... one went to the beach and the other decided to move to the North Pole. No kidding.

 

Le Petit Theatre

This little puppet theatre was a Christmas gift for Manon. It hangs on a tension rod and fits right under her desk or on a door frame. It was a really fun project. I made a very simple pattern and the best part was to add the curtains; I still find it magical to open them for the show to begin!  

 

Party & Memories

So far, 2009 has been a slow sewing year. I know I will make up for it in time. My mom was visiting and we spent time shopping, cooking, knitting or doing nothing at all. Here are a few pictures of Lily's birthday party cake and decor;-) Our microwave is broken so here I am heating up dinner on top of a pot of poiling water...

       

Vintage + Gem

Do you love old little buttons, appliques, velvet ribbons? Accessories of Old, a small shop in Bethesda (just north of DC) is your dream come true! I visited for the first time this week and came out with lots of new sewing ideas!

Tomorrow is Lily's 7th birthday and she invited some friends for a sleepover party. I had inflated the mattress in advance but I guess there is a hole in it or maybe the girls jumped on it too many times because it is all deflated now.

Hemp + Echino

This is a tote bag I made for my mom with organic hemp and a favorite Echino fabric. The lining is Amy Butler. I really enjoy making bags and I have more of the hemp so I will be showing you more bags soon. Hope everyone is well, I am taking advantage of the sun today to take some pictures of things I made a while back. It was so gray and wet this week that all pictures looked "sad"!
